Job Description JOB TITLE: Human Resources General Assistant
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

PAY GRADE: Paraprofessional 060
DUTY DAYS: 230 days

This position is eligible for a Letter of Assurance.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Answer and respond to incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff. Greet employees and visitors at the central office and approve access to the building. Provide support for daily human resource operations. Handle routine HR inquiries and provide responsive and knowledgeable assistance to employees. Assist in screening volunteers and guest educator candidates. Serve as backup to the guest educator specialist as needed.
Qualifications Minimum Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some college preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills - Strong Google Suite and Microsoft Office skills
- Proficiency in keyboarding and virtual file maintenance
- Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases and do word processing
- Ability to perform basic math
- Ability to read, speak and understand English; Bilingual Spanish/English Preferred
- Excellent organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Minimum Experience One [1] year of experience in human resources, benefits administration, insurance administration, or other related fields is preferred.
Major Responsibilities And Job Duties HR Support
- Handle routine HR inquiries to ensure a high level of service and responsive, knowledgeable support for employees and supervisors.
- Assist with HR data input, including but not limited to data transmissions to vendor imports and exports. Ensure that employee information is accurate, current, and reliable.
- Process background checks for all district volunteer applications and new hires as needed.
- Assist with new hire processing during hiring season, including screening applicants for hire, uploading them to TEA for fingerprints, and serving as the first point of contact in the hiring process for guest educators.
- Assist with managing guest educator profiles, including tracking mandatory training.
- Coordinate the relief schedule for receptionists within the administration building.
- Cross-train within the HR Department to provide support as needed.
- Utilize the Raptor system to check visitors and vendors into and out of the building.
- Maintain and manage district HR webpage.
Reports and Correspondence
- Prepare correspondence, forms, and reports per district standards and requirements.
- Assist in reporting information as needed.
Other - Answer and respond to incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
- Greet visitors and assist employees and new hires
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure that HR department goals are met.

Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to the supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
