Job Summary:

EmpRes Operated by Evergreen in Vancouver, Washington is looking for a qualified Network Engineer to build and support our network infrastructure. The network engineer will work with peers, end-users, and vendors to provide support and deliver on projects, while aiming to resolve issues with efficiency. Standout candidates will be excellent problem-solvers with outstanding communication and customer service skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to design and execute network solutions that align with business objectives.
  • Lead network-related initiatives from ideation to deployment, ensuring timely completion and effective implementation.
  • Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex network issues, diagnosing and resolving problems efficiently.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams, including end-users, other engineers, and the IT Service Desk, both remotely and in person.
  • Develop and refine processes and procedures to improve network performance, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Uphold professionalism and integrity while representing EmpRes Healthcare in interactions with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, VLANs, and wireless networking.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving network-related issues.
  • Ability to create, maintain, and improve technical documentation, including network diagrams and troubleshooting guides.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to provide exceptional support to end-users and internal teams with professionalism and a customer-first approach.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to mentor junior engineers and provide guidance to the Service Desk team.
  • Eagerness to learn and implement new technologies, staying up to date with industry trends and advancements.

Education, Licensure, and Experience:

  • Experience working in an ITSM ticketing system such as Jira Service Management.
  • Experience configuring and utilizing network monitoring systems such as PRTG or Solarwinds.
  • Experience implementing and supporting wireless networks in a distributed environment.
  • Familiarity with Fortinet systems (e.g., FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering, system administration, or a related IT infrastructure role.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise networking environments, including LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, VLANs, and wireless networking.
  • BS Degree in Networking, Computer Science, or Information Technology is a plus. Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Industry certifications such as Fortinet NSE 4/5, CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ are preferred but not required.
